Dreaming of escape

I could never live in the province. To quote my mom, “Masyado kang maarte.” And it’s true. I could never live without McDelivery and 7-Elevens. I’m a city girl through and through.
That said, every time we go someplace other than Manila, I imagine staying there. Just leaving everything behind and living the simple life. Only the bare necessities.

I’ve romanticized it all in my head: working as a waitress in a tiny eatery, staying in a simple room, getting up at the crack of dawn and going to sleep by 7PM.

The fantasy is lovely but it’s not something I’ll really be pursuing. But every once in a while, it’s nice to dream about escaping everything.
